Update 25/08/2010
Raymond Hakkert and Steven Blom (Holland) fished the lake, the last week of February 2010. They fished for 8 days and caught, in total, 18 carp, under extreme weather circumstances. For two weeks, there had been almost continuous rainfall. The fishing trip of Raymond and Steven started during the last days of this 'rain inferno', than they had 4 days of nice summer time and the last two days, again, there was storm and lots of rainfall. According to Marc (red.: The owner of Morocco Carp Fishing), the water level was rising up to its highest level in 20 years. Every day, the water level was rising substantially. The position of the bivy's had to be altered up to 3 times, until, finally we ended up under the tree's at base camp. Hakkert and Blom were catching carp, in an area, where 3 days before, the bivy's were located. After having adapted to the exceptional circumstances, the fishing started to pay off, with a nice 44+ lbs carp included. All together it was a good fishing trip, despite the bad weather circumstances. These are the words of Raymond: " Without any shatter of doubt, this is the most beautiful lake I ever fished for carp. Just magical. Here, all the pieces are fitting together. Beautiful big carp, beautiful small carp, beautiful common and mirror carp, adventure, sun, vacation, rain, storm, wilderness, good food, being lazy, wine, beer, friendly people, blue colored water, red mud, Africa, impressive, swims, depth's, shallows, bay's, rocks, little beaches, and above all...Fishing with a capital F!" These are the pictures we received from them.

The winner of the 'free Morocco fishing trip', at the VBK-meeting of last December, Frank ('Foxie') Lust fished the lake from the 14th until the 21st of February 2010, together with his fishing mate Kristiaan Leleu (Belgium). Frank has sent us 2 pictures and this was the accompanying text:
"We are back from our Moroccan adventure. The weather was very unstable and in one week, we experienced, the 4 seasons! We had to be evacuated from our swims several times, by the Morocco Carp Fishing co-workers. The water level was rising at such a speed, never seen before. The isle, where we fished at first, soon belonged to the underwater world! At the second isle (the 'French Point'), we bivyd up at approx. 80 m from the waterline and soon the co-workers had to evacuate us from there as well! In Kristiaan's bivy, there was 10 cm of water. On Monday the 15th, I caught my first (the one and only) carp. A stunning common of 20.2 kg. I was 'over the moon' with this carp! Later that week, we moved to a swim, closer to base camp. There, on the last fishing day, Kristiaan caught a common of 15.4 kg (33 Lbs 9). One thing is for sure, next year we will be back! (Hopefully, in better or more stable whether circumstances). We were told by Clement, that this week was the worst week ever, concerning the weather. At a certain moment, even the road to the lake was completely blocked! We were lucky we could maintain our traveling schedule...
Thanks for the perfect organization, see you next year.

Latest news 15 February 2010:

The last week, there has been lots of rain at the lake area. The weather forecast predicts the same kind of cloudy, rainy weather at least for one more week. The temperatures however are not as cold as in January…daytime 15° to 20° C, night time 5° to 10° C. Some joyful news came in yesterday. It looks like the carp has moved into the fishing areas. Since a few days, lots of carp is being caught at all swims! Also the bigger fish is ‘very regularly’ being caught now…! More news and pictures, soon at this site.

Furthermore, due to the (heavy) rainfall in the past, the water level of the lake is steadily rising and is almost at the maximum level. The weather forecast is giving more rain in the forthcoming week(s)…so, we can say that the lake will be ‘full’, the whole spring time. As we know from last year, these are very good fishing conditions!
We are looking forward to some really surprising catches, any time now…

Keep the lines tight!

Update 30/01/2010
Alijn Danau and Stefaan Bleyenberg (Belgium) went fishing the lake from the 21st until the 29th of January 2010.On the arrival day, the weather was like 'summertime'. The second day, the weather changed completely to windy, cloudy, rainy and above all...very cold. They were struggling to catch carp. Moving to another swim was not succesful. For the last three days, sunny weather was predicted again, so they moved (again) to another swim were the carp was likely going to be active. Finally, they managed to catch their share of the Bin El Ouidane treasures.Among some smaller ones (all between 6 and 17 kg), Stefaan en Alijn also caught the first 3 carp,
over 20 kg, of 2010.

Overview December 2009 / January 2010:

In the months December and January, there have been a dozen of groups fishing the lake of Bin El Ouidane.

In December, it has been quite a struggle to catch the carp. However, each group finally caught a series carp. Remarkable, a lot of smaller carp (2 to 8 kg) has been caught, but also a 17 and 19 kg carp. The two last carp of 20 kg +, of 2009, have been caught by two Italian anglers.

In January, only 4 groups have visited the lake. The weather was very variable. Nice and sunny days interchanged regularly to cloudy, cold and windy periods with lots of rain and snow, up in the mountains. Only low numbers of carp were active on the Morocco Carp Fishing grounds. The success of fishing the lake varied together with the weather. It was in lower numbers, but finally everybody caught some carp. Except for the French group, who blanked despite the efforts made…This is the first time that somebody blanked at the lake, in 13 months!

The first 3 carp over 20 kg of 2010 (among some smaller ones), were caught by the Belgians Stefaan Bleyenberg and Alijn Danau who fished the lake, the last week of January. Also the Italians caught 3 carp over 20 kg (among others) shortly after them.

It looks like we still have to wait a little longer for better temperatures and the moment that the carp will be massively active again.

Until March, for the overview of February!

Update 19/01/2010
From half December 2009, up to last week, there has been a lot of rain in the Atlas mountains.
As a result of this, the lake's water level has rised again up to 'full level'. This means, since the beginning of
November 2009, that the level has rised by approx. 7meter. Since last week, the weather has been very nice,
with daily temperatures between 20 & 30 degrees C. (More weather information via the link on the homepage,
'weather forecast').

Roman Kainzbauer en Phillipp Alteneder, from Linz (Austria) fished the lake in the beginning of November 2009. They have set us the following pictures...
