Overview July 2009:

The lake’s water level has started lowering very slowly…the level is now approx. 2.5 m lower than at it’s maximum, earlier on this year. In July, we have seen only few fishermen but again, they were very successful.

The Dutch fishermen, who started their session at the end of June, finished their session in July. They caught approx. 50 carp, up to 18.8 kg. (41Lbs4).

Just after them, 2 German guy’s fished the lake for a week at a swim, at the front of the lake, in between the bays. They caught over 30 carp, up to 18.4 kg. (40Lbs5).

At the same moment, taking advantage of his ‘free time’, Clement Fabrem fished a swim was ‘untouched’ for a long period. A bit of baiting up (Atlas-boilies) and the carp were there again. He caught, after 3 half day’s fishing, in total, 7 carp. Biggest one 20 kg+.

At the end of the month, 4 English carp anglers visited the lake. Anton, Saul, Andy and Dave fished a swim, at the front of the lake. They started off with a lot of ‘smaller’ carp but finally, they caught their share of the ‘bigger’ Bin El Ouidane carp. They totalized well over 100 carp, up to 40 Lbs+.

Update 13//07/2009

Overview June 2009

Only a few carp fisher men have been visiting the lake. However, the carp is still present and very active on the Morocco Carp Fishing grounds…

There was Philippe, who fished the bay at base camp, on his own, for 10 days. He caught, in total, 27 carp, up to 17 kg.

At the same week, the brothers Pontes fished one of the islands, at the front of the lake. They caught each 6 carp, up to 18.5 kg.

Two other brothers, Paul and Maxime, came over for a fishing session of a week, at the end of June. They caught, in total, approx. 50 carp, up to 19.5 kg.

Clement fished the lake, at base camp, for 3 days. First he baited up massively, purely with boilies. This test was very successful, as he caught, in 72 hrs, 23 carp. Biggest one, a common carp of 19.5 kg, along with some very nice mirror carp.

Update 19//06/2009

	Manuel De Ronne and Enrico Neyt (Belgium), fished the lake at the end of May 2009.These are their own words, which they have sent to us together with a selection of their pictures."Most of the big fish, we caught on a pineapple fluo pop-up. Popped up for approx. 8 cm.

	We baited up with a mixture of maize and crumbled boilies. This is what we saw back again on the unhooking mat. Also a 'snowman' combination was giving good results. Also maize and floating maize was successful. The best depth for catching was approx. 10 m, just behind the weed beds. Because of the shallow margins, we drilled all our fish from the boat. In the morning, we caught regularly fish, close in the margin, with a 40 cm popped up rig. Baiting up regularly was very important for catching carp.We had the impression that even 'the sound' of baiting up, was attracting carp...we'll be back!"

Update 15//06/2009

Overview May 2009

Again, a lot of very nice carp has been gracing the mats. The water level, of the lake, has been high and stable, all month through. The most spectacular fact was the confirmation of boilies, now being fully accepted by the carp. Boilies or now definitely the best bait for catching carp.

Another spectacular fact now is the developing of massive weed beds, almost everywhere along the margins o the lake. This, up to 9.5 m depth. Most carp are now being caught just behind the limits of this weed.

In the beginning of May, two young anglers from Paris, Nicolas and Damien, have been fishing for two weeks. They wanted to break their previous record and they succeeded very quickly. They caught approx. 30 carp with a lot of carp between 15 and 18.5 kg. (33 and 40 Lbs). The first week, they fished the area of the three isles, the second week, they fished the base camp area.

The same week, we could welcome again, Nicolas and Johan of the ‘Rougai Team’. They fished the front of the lake and totalized approx. 35 carp. A beautiful fully scaled mirror was one of the results, the biggest one was 19 kg. (41 Lbs 8).

Also the same week, another group from Paris, Jerome, Marvyn and Romain were fishing the base camp area. They caught 46 carp, with 3 carp between 20 and 21.5 kg. (44 and 47 Lbs 4).

The next week, Pierre, accompanied by his wife, fished the area of the 3 isles. They caught approx. 20 carp, up to 17.5 kg. (38 Lbs 5).

Hubert and jr, fished the front area of the lake and caught approx. 35 carp, up to 19.5 kg. (42 lbs 9).
In the same week, we could welcome two Belgians, Manuel and Enrico. They fished a swim in the base camp area and totalized approx. 70 carp. Biggest one was 21 kg. (42 Lbs 3).

The next week, we could welcome 4 French anglers. Two of them fished the front area of the lake, the other two, fished a swim in the base camp area. The first two caught approx. 40 carp up to 20 kg. (44 Lbs). The other two caught approx. 25 carp.

At the last week of May, there was also Franck, accompanied by Charles. Charles is a cameraman/director. They fished for 6 day’s at the front area of the lake. Franck caught approx. 25 carp, with 3 carp between 20 and 21.5 kg. (44 and 47 Lbs 7).

Finally, at the same moment, there were 3 anglers from the South African national angling team for a 10 day’s session. They caught approx. 120 carp between them. Most carp were between 15 and 18.5 kg. (33 and 40 Lbs 7). (18.5 kg was the biggest).

That’s it for May 2009. Carp are still continuously ‘having it’…There are still places free, in all periods, for the rest of 2009…

Update 05/05/2009

	A team of Italians fished the lake in March. They were very successful. They were so trilled by the lake, the surroundings, the carp and the service that they came back, a second time, three weeks later, at the beginning of April. They have sent us some of their best pictures...

Overzicht april 2009:

Het vangstenfestijn is in de maand april ‘gewoon verder gegaan’.

De dieptes waarop de meeste vissen werden gevangen, was nu wel veranderd naar ‘rond de 10m’, behalve rond de kleine eilandjes, waar de vissen nog steeds op een diepte van ‘rond de 5m’ werden gevangen. Samen met het stijgen van de gemiddelde temperatuur begint er nu ook, op vele plaatsen, kruid aan de oppervlakte te komen. De boilie, zo mogen we stellen, is op enkele maanden tijd uitgegroeid tot voornaamste aassoort. Vrijwel alle vangsten werden gerealiseerd met de boilie…Zowel de bodem-boilie als ‘pop-up’ en ‘snowman’ bleken succesvol.

De Fransman Philippe, vergezeld met zijn vrouw, is in april voor de derde maal langs gekomen. Na 36 uren zonder beet, aan de linkerkant van de baai aan het basiskamp, zijn zij verkast naar ‘helemaal vooraan’ tussen de eilanden en hebben daar de ene beet na de andere gehad. Uiteindelijk hadden zij een 50-tal vissen met daarbij 3 boven de 20 kg, namelijk, 20.2, 20.6 en een 25.6 kg!

Leon Hoogendijk en Didier hadden zich geïnstalleerd op een klein eilandje, ook helemaal vooraan het meer. Zij vingen in totaal een 35-tal vissen met als grootste een schubkarper van 21 kg, voor Leon. (Naar eigen zeggen verspeelde Didier die zelfde dag nog ‘de grootste vis van zijn leven’…)

De twee Parijse vrienden Pascal en Cedric waren naar Bin El Ouidane gekomen voor een sessie van twee weken. Zij zijn begonnen met vissen, in de baai van het basiskamp met succes maar wilden ook toch nog eens op een andere plaats vissen… Zij zijn dan verhuist naar een stek ergens vooraan het meer, en ook hier met succes. In totaal visten zij een 70-tal karpers bij elkaar met daarbij 5 karpers van 20 kg+. De gewichten daarvan waren 20.1, 20.2, 20.7, 23.5 en 24.4 kg. Die laatste was een spiegel en tevens ‘een oude bekende’, namelijk de recordvis die op 1 maart werd gevangen op 31.5 kg!

Diezelfde recordvis werd 14 dagen later nog eens gevangen, ditmaal op 25.5 kg, door iemand van het ‘fifty one team’, uit Orleans, op een stek, ongeveer 800m verwijderd van de vorige vangst. Diezelfde vrienden van het ‘fifty one team’ uit Orleans, totaliseerden een 35-tal karpers waarbij ook nog een schubkarper van 22 kg.

Alle vissers, die in april naar het meer zijn gekomen, hebben zeer mooie vangsten gerealiseerd, zoals Philippe en Christian, die samen 46 vissen verschalkten, waarvan 2 van
20 kg+.

Cedric en Fred hadden dan weer een 40-tal vissen met als grootste, een schubkarper van
22 kg.

Olivier en Jonathan totaliseerden een 35-tal vissen…en dan zijn er nog de anderen waarvan de gegevens niet hebben…

Op de laatste dag van april stond het aantal gevangen 20 kg+ karpers (sinds begin 2009),
Op 99 stuks!!!

Het gemiddelde aantal vissers per week, lag in april op ongeveer 6 a 8 personen. Dit gemiddelde aantal zal de komende maanden nog verder zakken. En dit terwijl de verwachtingen, voor de komende maanden, nog steeds hoog blijven…! Er zijn dus nog volop mogelijkheden/plaatsen te over voor diegenen die overwegen om de komende maanden, hun kans, op Bin El Ouidane, te wagen!

Update 11/04/2009

	Since half of February, up to now, the lake has been constantly fishing very well! Up to now, over 70 carp 20kg+ (44 Lbs+) has been caught in the course of 2009!

	From the 21st of March until the 3rd of april, a Dutch team consisting out of Harmjan Halfwerk, Stein Jansen, Frank Schurink and Peter Boers fished the lake. The following note is what we received on a small paper (along with some stunning pictures): "Friday morning, we all went direction Morocco again, to fish the lake Bin El Ouidane. After staying the night (and a good breakfast) in the local hotel, we went to the lake. After having choosen our swims, we seperated for the following day's, to fish 'two by two'. After the session, we met again in the hotel. We counted our catches and it turned out that we caught, all together, (in Dutch pounds), approx. 130 carp..." 40 carp 30 pounds+ (33Lbs+)13 carp 40 pounds+ (44Lbs+) 1 carp 50 pounds+ (55Lbs+) See also the note of Stein Jansen in the guestbook, on the 5th of april.

Update 02/04/2009

	Michael Flosdorf (our Morocco Carp Fishing representative for Germany and Austria)visited the lake, the 3rd week of February. He has sent us some of his pictures without any further information...what a catch!

Overzicht maart 2009:

Maart is, tot nu toe, de maand waarin de meeste grote karpers zijn gevangen. De karpers zijn heel de maand actief geweest op de ‘Morocco Carp Fishing –gronden’ en er zijn werkelijk ongelooflijke vangsten gerealiseerd. Of het nu aan het basiskamp was, aan de omgeving van de eilanden, in de baaien vooraan of in de ‘sector Kwint’, vele en grote karpers zijn op de mat beland. Het merendeel van de karpers werd gevangen op ondiep water, op 3 a 6 m diepte, en dit op voerplaatsen van, gemixt, maïs en (Atlas)boilies en ook soms op tijgernoten. Enkele voorbeelden van die geweldige vangsten deze maand:

De Duitse en Nederlandse groepen hebben, zonder uitzondering, allemaal zeer goed gevangen. De Nederlanders, op het grote eiland, vooraan tussen de baaien, hebben een 50-tal karpers gevangen waarvan 7 boven de 20 kg en met als topvis, en tevens nieuw record van het meer, een spiegel van 31.5 kg! Dit is tevens de grootste Afrikaanse karper die ooit is gevangen!

De Duitsers die zich hadden geïnstalleerd aan het einde van de baai aan het basiskamp, hebben ook zeer vele vissen gevangen (met 4 vissers) met 8 karpers van 20 kg+ en met als topvis een schub van 26.8 kg.

In het begin van de maand zijn Paul Coppin en zijn vriend Fred over gekomen voor een sessie van een week. Zij zaten te vissen op het eiland (dat er toen nog was) waar voorheen het basiskamp was. Zij vingen regelmatig vis met een totaal van een 20-tal karpers met een zeer goed gemiddeld gewicht, aangezien de meeste vissen rond de 18 kg wogen. Daarbij hadden ze ook schubkarpers van 20 kg, 20.1 kg en 22.8 kg en een spiegel van 23.6 kg.

We hebben ook nog (voor het eerst) een Italiaanse groep ‘over de vloer gehad’ die ook een groot aantal vissen hadden met, ook hier weer, een aantal prachtige exemplaren tussen de 20 en 22 kg. Zij hadden ook een aantal prachtige typische ‘Bin El Ouidane-spiegels’.

Twee jonge Fransen, Benjamin en Jonathan hebben samen een 30-tal vissen gevangen, met elk, 2 vissen van 20 kg+. Zij visten vanuit ‘het nieuwe basiskamp gebied’ nadat ze een aantal dagen bijna niets hadden gevangen van op een eiland, aan het einde van het basiskamp.

Op datzelfde eiland, op een plaats waar een grote diepte zich uitstrekt tussen het eiland en een schiereiland, en zo een doorgang vormt naar de voorkant van het meer, konden 2 Belgen (waaronder Geert Bauwens) wel hun vissen gevangen krijgen…Zij vingen ongeveer een 25-tal vissen met daarbij schubs van 20 kg en 24 kg.

Vervolgens was het de beurt aan Jacky, Danny, Jerome en Severine om een prachtige sessie mee te maken met niet minder dan een 80-tal vissen. Daarbij zeer vele 15 kg+ vissen, met daarbij een prachtige volschub, en twee 20 kg+ vissen met een ‘top’ voor Jacky, met een spiegel van 23 kg.

Hubert en zijn vrienden hadden besloten zich te splitsen in 2 groepen van 2 en compleet andere stekken te bevissen. De 2e groep had veel meer vissen dan de eerste maar ja, samen hadden ze wel meer dan 100 vissen, met opnieuw, voor beide groepen, 2 karpers van boven de 20 kg en zeer vele vissen tussen de 15 en 20 kg.

De grootste vangst, deze maand, werd gerealiseerd door 4 Nederlandse vrienden, verdeeld in 2 groepen van twee. (Harmjan Halfwerk, Frank Schurinck, Peter Boers en Stein Jansen). Samen hebben ze meer dan 130 vissen gevangen, met daarbij het ongelooflijke cijfer van 17 20 kg+ vissen met als top een schub van 26 kg en nog een bijzondere vangst van een schub van 116 cm lang!

De lijst met mooie vangsten is eigenlijk nog langer maar het ontbreekt ons aan juiste gegevens om erover te kunnen berichten. Het woord ‘geblankt’ is nu al een lange tijd niet meer gehoord aan het meer!
Tot daar de statistieken…Iedereen is tevreden en met mooie souvenirs kunnen huiswaarts keren…

In april, kunnen we nu al zeggen, is het ‘vangstenfeest’ gewoon doorgegaan. Maar daarover meer, spoedig in de volgende update.

	Clement Fabrem (see update of 20/03/09) fished also, the 3rd week of February.He caught a remarkable and magnificent series of carp... He gave us six of his best pictures with carp of 20.6 kg, 20.4 kg, 19.5 kg, 21.2 kg, 15.8 kg and 17.2 kg. (45Lbs4, 44Lbs9, 42Lbs9, 46Lbs7, 34Lbs8, 37Lbs9).
	This time, he caught all the carp on the 'Atlas Boilies'...

Update 25/03/2009
Marcel Sommeling and Lesley Roos (from Holland) fished the lake from the 07th until 19th of March.(See also their message on the Guestbook page, 22nd of March).
	They had 25 runs with the biggest carp for Lesley, a common at 24.5 kg. (54 Lbs 1).They say:"France goodbeye, Bin El Ouidane forever!"They will be back in winter time 2008 or spring, next year...

	In March, we had a team of six Germans visiting the lake, for a 12 day fishing session.They have sent us a capture list and some pictures...

Overzicht februari 2009:

In februari is er tijdens de eerste 2 weken, slechts 1 visser geweest. Stefaan Bleyenberg viste er gedurende 8 dagen, waarvan de eerste 4 dagen in slecht, koud weer maar wel met goede resultaten. Een twintigtal vissen, tot 22.6 kg. Met de komst van het goede weer (de laatste 4 dagen) namen de vangsten recht evenredig af, naar minimaal…

De derde week zijn er dan 2 Duitsers geweest die wederom mooie vangsten hebben geboekt met o.a. 5 vissen van 20 kg+. (De grootste bedroeg 22.3 kg). Hun vrienden die zich een beetje verderop hadden geplaatst hadden trouwens ook zeer mooie vangsten met o.a. een schub van 20.4 kg en een spiegel van 21.3 kg.

De Duitser Michael Flosdorf heeft er ook nog gevist tijdens die laatste 2 weken van februari. Hij ving vele vissen tussen de 15 en 20 kg en een schub van 21.7 kg.

Clement Fabrem viste wederom voor een week en ving vele vissen tussen de 15 en 20 kg (waarvan de meeste, dichter tegen de 20 kg dan tegen de 15 kg) met als ‘top-vissen’ 21.2 kg, 20.4 kg en 20.6 kg.

In de laatste week hebben we dan de Italiaan Massimo en zijn vrienden mogen ontvangen. Wederom werden er vele vissen gevangen tussen de 15 en 20 kg en o.a. ook nog 2 schubs van resp. 20.6 kg en 20.7 kg.

Dit bracht het totaal van gevangen 20 kg+ karpers op 27, sinds het begin van 2009…

Update 16/03/2009

	A Dutch team consisting out of Peter Van Loon, Charith Pathiranage, Henry Van Es and Gilbert Grein fished the lakefrom the 25th of February until the 6th of March. These four friends caught lots of carp. With seven carp over 20 kg, topped by the new lake record for mirror carp, they had a very special fishing session...

The first carp of 30 kg + has been caught on Lac De Bin El Ouidane, in Morocco.
Yesterday evening, 1st of March 2009, at approx. 22.00, a member of a Dutch group (with Peter Van Loon)
,caught a new lake record for mirror carp. This group of 4 fishermen, started fishing on the 25th of February.
From day 2 onwards, they caught a lot of carp with, up to now, 7 carp above 20 kg (44 Lbs +).
This is now topped by the new lake record for mirror carp, 31.5 kg ! (69 Lbs 4).

On the 28th of January 2009, Morocco Carp Fishing announced that they were looking for a new representative for the United Kingdom. Update 17/02/2009

	Stefaan Bleyenberg fished the lake, in the beginning of February.After catching a lot of carp, the first 5 day's of the session (cold and rainy weather),catches were dropping as soon the sunny weather started...Usually, the opposite happens....Remarkable, most catches came from the rigs with the local 'Atlas-boilie'!Baiting up was done with maize, mixed with 'Atlas-boilies'.It looks like the carp is finally 'going for them'...?!
	The water level of Bin El Ouidane is still rising steadily and rapidly.By the looks of it, the lake will be 'full', in the course of march!It's been from 1996 that the lake has been 'full'. Most of the 'known swims' are already disappeared under water...The whole 'base camp area' is flooded...(see picture) In the forthcoming month's, the lake will have to be fished from swims, which haven't been fished for a decade...! We expect lots of carp will enter the shallow margins of the Morocco Carp Fishing area in the next months!

Overzicht januari 2009:

Januari is eigenlijk ‘kalm’ verlopen, met weinig vissers aan het meer. Diegenen die gekomen zijn, hebben het zich echter niet beklaagd!In het begin van de maand waren daar Cedric en Pascal voor een sessie van 10 dagen. Zij zijn gaan ‘proberen’, helemaal vooraan het meer, in de baaien. Na een aantal dagen van ‘weinig beweging’, zijn zij verkast naar het einde van het (toen nog) schiereiland, links van het basiskamp. Zij zijn uiteindelijk beloont geweest voor de moeite met vissen van (tijdens de laatste 2 dagen) o.a. 14, 19.4, en 20.5 kg.

De dag van hun vertrek zijn er 3 Duitsers aangekomen die zich geïnstalleerd hebben op de ‘punt van Gerard’. Na 1 uur vissen hadden ze al hun eerste vis te pakken. In totaal hadden ze ongeveer 50 vissen, waarvan 16 vissen boven de 15 kg en 3 vissen tussen de 20 en 21.5 kg.

Half januari zijn dan de Duitsers Helmut en Rule aangekomen, voor een 10-daagse sessie. De eerste 5 dagen leverden niets op (mede door het slechte/koude weer). Nadien hebben ze dan nog 26 vissen gevangen met als grootste een karper van 19 kg.

Clement Fabrem viste eind januari voor 6 dagen in de baai van het basiskamp. Resultaat, 32 vissen waarvan 11 boven de 15 kg, en 2 van 20 kg+. (20.7 en 22 kg).

Op hetzelfde moment was daar ook Alijn Danau actief voor een week. Hij ving 16 vissen tot 20.8 kg.

Het merendeel van de vissen, werd deze maand gevangen op dieptes tussen de 8 en 12 m.

Het water bleef snel en gestadig stijgen. Een mooi voorjaar lag in het vooruitzicht. Overal begon karper actief te worden…

Also, we can announce now, that Mr. Frasier Cairns (also known as 'radcarper') from 'Morocco Carp' and related to 'Hotel Bin El Ouidane', 'Cats n Carp' and 'Essex Angling', has officially confirmed, having laid down his attempts to become a legal organizer for carp fishing trips to the lake Bin El Ouidane. He has found that it was impossible to become the necessary legal permits...Frasier Cairns sold his fishing tackle, partly, to Morocco Carp Fishing...

This leaves us with Mr. Karl Heinz Afflerbach, from 'Progressive Baiting Germany'. Until today, on his website, he is still offering carp fishing trips to Bin El Ouidane and this without legal permits from the local authorities! Not only he is a deceiver but he also is spreading false and misleading rumors about Morocco Carp Fishing! Conclusion: Be aware of this man and his company and their deceptive practices!

Furthermore...due to plenty of rainfall, in October, November and December, the water level is rising steady and rapidly. At the moment, the water level is approx. 8m higher than in September. This is still approx. 6m under base camp level. All the mountains around the lake are covered in snow. Expectations are, that the lake will be 'full' or 'nearly full' by the end of march or in the course of April/may.
